Product Overview
From the kilns of Design Studio 180 these colorful aqua glass knobs are created by cutting and stacking art glass in layers. The glass used is specially produced to have equal expansion and contraction characteristics so that the layers do not break when cooled. Then, these stacks are fired at precise temperatures and timings involving up to 10 different temperature steps. Then rapidly cooled from nearly 1500 to 1000, and annealed for 8 to 12 hours. At this point, the formerly separate layers of glass are molecularly bonded into a single piece of fused glass. Each knob is individually handcrafted and there will be slight variances in shape and on the edge where the layers of glass meet. This knob features an aqua layer on top and a clear layer on bottom giving the knob a deep, colorful look.
